Visakhapatnam, June 21 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Saturday that yoga is not only a profound personal practice but also functions as a collective system that transitions individuals from 'Me' to 'We'.

Speaking at the 11th International Day of Yoga event held at RK Beach, he articulated that this year’s theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' underscores the interconnectedness of health among all living beings on our planet.

“Yoga teaches us that we are not isolated beings but essential components of the natural world. Initially, we focus on our own health and well-being, but over time, this concern broadens to encompass our surroundings, community, and the Earth. Yoga is a profound personal discipline that simultaneously acts as a collective framework — facilitating the shift from Me to We,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

He remarked that the essence of “Me to We” embodies the very spirit of India and pointed out that when individuals transcend self-interest and consider the broader society, the welfare of all humanity becomes achievable.

Referring to Indian culture, he highlighted the principle of 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' (the welfare of all is a sacred duty), noting that this journey from 'Me' to 'We' lays the groundwork for service, dedication, and coexistence. The Prime Minister asserted that this mindset is vital for fostering social harmony.

He commended Andhra Pradesh for its exceptional organization of the event and praised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for their leadership.

Under their guidance, he noted, Andhra Pradesh has initiated the impressive Yogandhra Abhiyan. He particularly acknowledged the contributions of Nara Lokesh, son of Chandrababu Naidu and state minister, saying he has illustrated how yoga can be celebrated socially and include every sector of society.

PM Modi remarked that in the past month and a half, Lokesh has exhibited commendable dedication through the Yogandhra Abhiyan and deserves recognition for his contributions.

He pointed out that over two crore individuals have participated in the Yogandhra Abhiyan, showcasing a vibrant spirit of public involvement, which he believes is foundational to a 'Viksit Bharat'. He asserted that when citizens take ownership of a cause and engage actively, no objective is unattainable.

The Prime Minister noted that the enthusiasm and goodwill of the people were evident during the event in Visakhapatnam.
