Lucknow, Jan 24 (NationPress) As the Congress party prepares for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027, it faces a significant challenge with the recent resignation of a key member.
Nasimuddin Siddiqui, a prominent leader within the party, has formally stepped down and submitted his resignation to Ajay Rai, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), and Mallikarjun Kharge, the national president of Congress.
In an interview with IANS in Lucknow, Siddiqui stated, “I was never upset. My desire was for work, not for respect.”
Reflecting on his eight-year tenure with Congress, he emphasized, “I have always worked at the grassroots level. During this time, I chose to celebrate Eid and Diwali in villages rather than at home.”
“My commitment to grassroots efforts has been my essence. Unfortunately, my contributions and skills have been overlooked in recent years,” he added.
Regarding his future, Siddiqui mentioned that he has yet to determine his next steps. “I haven’t decided if I will establish my own organization or join another party. I harbor no jealousy or resentment. If someone earns a Rajya Sabha seat, I genuinely wish them well,” he remarked.
In his resignation letter, Siddiqui cited personal reasons for his departure. He explained that due to “unavoidable circumstances,” he was resigning from his primary membership and all organizational duties, while also clarifying that he holds no personal grievances against any Congress officials. Furthermore, he noted that the goals that motivated him to join the party have not been achieved.
