New Delhi, June 25 (NationPress) The Indian Air Force successfully facilitated the safe return of an additional 224 Indian citizens from Israel on Wednesday, bringing the cumulative total of those repatriated to 818 under Operation Sindhu.
Upon their arrival in New Delhi, Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje welcomed the returning nationals.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared the update via the social media platform X, stating, "Operation Sindhu update: MoS Ms. Shobha Karandlaje welcomed 224 Indian nationals who returned to India from Israel on an IAF aircraft at 10:30 Hrs on June 25. The safety and security of Indian nationals remain a priority for the government. To date, 818 nationals have returned home from Israel as part of Operation Sindhu."
The IAF deployed its C-17 aircraft as part of the effort, evacuating Indian nationals and citizens from allied nations, including Nepal and Sri Lanka, from the conflict-affected regions of Israel.
Previously, the MEA announced that the evacuation of Indian nationals from Israel began on Monday, June 23, via Jordan, marking the first successful repatriation flight, with 161 citizens arriving in New Delhi from Amman on Tuesday morning.
The IAF conducted a subsequent flight on the same day, bringing back 286 Indian nationals who were residing in Israel from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
In addition, a similar evacuation operation has been underway in Iran, with reports indicating that 2,858 Indian nationals have been repatriated from Tehran and other impacted areas, according to the MEA.
