Key Takeaways
Raipur/Dantewada, Feb 26 (NationPress) In a significant anti-Naxal operation within Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, security forces successfully uncovered two pressure cooker improvised explosive devices (IEDs) hidden in a wooded area near Todma village and Tular Caves, falling under the jurisdiction of Barsur Police Station on Thursday.
This operation was a collaborative effort involving the District Reserve Guard of Dantewada alongside personnel from Barsur Police Station.
Following actionable intelligence received on Wednesday regarding Maoist activities relating to IED placement in the forested terrains of Todma, Gomter, and Tular Caves, teams initiated a focused search.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai reported that de-mining operations began promptly in Todma village, Tular Caves, and the surrounding dense woodlands.
A meticulous operation was executed by a joint team of DRG personnel, including Sub Inspector Annuram Attami and two constables from Barsur Police Station, based on the credible information received.
During this exhaustive search, the team discovered and secured an explosive cache concealed by Maoists, which included two pressure cooker IEDs, each weighing five kilograms and equipped with fifteen meters of wiring.
These devices, frequently utilized by Maoist factions for ambushes and territory denial tactics, represented a substantial threat to patrolling security personnel and local residents traversing the forest paths, as noted by officials.
Following standard operational protocols, the BDDS team safely neutralized the recovered explosives, thus averting immediate risks to lives and property.
This successful operation thwarted a potentially deadly incident aimed at security forces or civilians in this Maoist-affected area.
Supervised by SP Gaurav Rai, along with Additional Superintendents of Police RK Burman and Jitendra Khunte, this operation marks a significant milestone in dismantling Maoist infrastructure.
