New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) - The Delhi Police have successfully apprehended three suspects involved in an illicit LPG gas storage and refilling operation in the Palam region, seizing 45 Bharat Gas cylinders from the scene, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.
In a decisive move, a unit from the Palam Village Police Station dismantled the unauthorized operation, which was located within a residential area of Palam.
The arrested individuals include Anaar Singh, a driver from Najafgarh; Satyaveer, a delivery boy from Dabri; and Vikas Kumar, an assistant delivery boy residing in Palam.
Authorities also confiscated a tempo vehicle alongside the 45 Bharat Gas cylinders found at the site.
According to reports, the operation commenced on March 28 at approximately 7:00 a.m., when Head Constable Rajesh, while conducting routine patrols, received a tip-off regarding the illegal storage of LPG cylinders at a vacant plot situated at WZ-57B, Adarsh Gali, Palam Village.
Acting swiftly, a police team, including SI R.P. Meena, HC Rajesh, and HC Lalit Kumar, arrived at the location and discovered a tempo parked inside the plot with its rear open.
Upon inspection, numerous domestic LPG cylinders belonging to Bharat Gas were uncovered, stored both inside the vehicle and in the surrounding area.
Investigators also identified that illegal refilling was taking place on-site, with gas being transferred between cylinders using nozzles and a weighing machine, in blatant disregard for safety regulations.
A total of 45 LPG cylinders were retrieved during the operation.
During interrogation, the suspects were unable to present any legitimate licenses or permissions for the storage of LPG cylinders. They admitted that the plot had been rented specifically for illegal storage and that they were engaged in transferring and refilling gas for unlawful financial gain.
Further inquiries revealed that this illegal endeavor was allegedly linked to personnel from Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri.
Officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dwarka, along with representatives from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Food Safety Department, conducted an inspection of the location and confirmed the illicit activities.
All three suspects were detained, and a case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Essential Commodities Act at the Palam Village Police Station.
Police have taken custody of all seized cylinders and the equipment used in the operation, including nozzles, a weighing machine, and the vehicle, in accordance with legal protocols.
Further questioning revealed that the suspects reiterated their admission of renting the plot specifically for the illegal storage and refilling of LPG cylinders without any authorization, employing rudimentary equipment to carry out the operation.
