Inclusion of Bhagavad Gita in Haryana's Class 8 Curriculum

Chandigarh, Jan 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, convened a meeting on Saturday, urging officials to guarantee that all schools provide high-quality education while adhering to the student-teacher ratio mandated by the National Education Policy. He proposed the inclusion of the Bhagavad Gita in the curriculum until Class 8 to cultivate moral values among students.
A detailed action plan is currently being formulated to tackle the teacher shortage in schools. Consequently, starting from the upcoming academic year, no school should experience a lack of teachers, as stated in an official announcement citing the Chief Minister.
During the meeting, CM Saini emphasized the necessity for a thorough strategy to optimize the distribution of teachers across schools to resolve any existing shortages.
He clarified that there isn’t a deficiency of teachers in Haryana, but rather the distribution of teaching staff should be aligned with the number of students. He insisted that all necessary preparations be finalized prior to the commencement of the new academic session.
The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of fostering public trust in government schools to motivate more children to enroll and pursue education there.
To guarantee the comprehensive development of students, he underlined the importance of making sports and cleanliness mandatory in schools.
Moreover, he advocated for enhancing teachers' skills to enable them to implement innovative teaching methodologies effectively. He also instructed that essential facilities such as drinking water, toilets, and overall cleanliness be upheld in schools and colleges.
Chief Minister Saini announced that the government has set up Model Sanskriti Schools at the block level, which are affiliated with the CBSE Board. These institutions provide education in mathematics and science, along with instruction in English.
Given the high demand and competition for admission, he stressed the necessity to increase the number of Model Sanskriti Schools at the block level.
