New Delhi, April 29 (NationPress) India and Egypt have reached an agreement to fortify their strategic collaboration in skill development, aiming to cultivate a workforce that is globally competitive and future-ready, as stated in an official announcement on Tuesday.
This pivotal decision was made during a high-level meeting in New Delhi, where representatives from India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) engaged with an Egyptian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Technical Education, Prof Ayman Bahaa El Din.
“Both nations have pinpointed several promising areas for collaboration. These include joint certification programs, student and faculty exchanges, initiatives in digital skills and entrepreneurship, and the creation of Centres of Excellence in key sectors like information technology, agriculture, tourism, and green skills,” the statement noted.
The delegations underscored their mutual commitment to building a globally competitive and future-ready workforce, leveraging their partnership as a model for extensive South-South cooperation.
This engagement signifies yet another milestone in the growing India-Egypt relationship, following the 2023 upgrade of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and the granting of Egypt’s highest civilian honor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently.
Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, emphasized the enduring connections between the two nations. He reiterated India’s ambition to become the “Skill Capital of the World” through the Skill India Mission, which has already trained nearly 400,000 individuals in advanced fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data, while fostering over 1.3 million entrepreneurs.
India’s initiatives to align its vocational education and training (TVET) ecosystem with international standards and the establishment of world-class Skill India International Centres were presented as exemplary models for global collaboration.
The Egyptian delegation shared valuable insights into Egypt’s extensive TVET reforms, including the EU-supported TVET Egypt Reform Programme and the formation of Sector Skill Councils, which align with India’s scalable and cost-effective skilling approaches.
Both parties recognized the achievements of ongoing collaborations, such as the 2024 MoU between India’s NIELIT and Egypt’s Information Technology Institute, the partnership of the El-Sewedy Group with Amity University, and the Indian-supported Vocational Training Centre in Cairo, the statement concluded.
