New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi engaged in a meeting with Ethiopia's Chief of Land Force and Military Advisor, General Alemshet Degife Balcha, in New Delhi on Friday. Their discussions revolved around enhancing cooperation in training, peacekeeping, and defence capacity-building.
This meeting highlighted the mutual dedication of India and Ethiopia to strengthen their defence ties and enhance regional peace and stability through multilateral collaboration.
“During the UNTCC2025 event, General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, engaged with General Alemshet Degife Balcha, focusing on improving cooperation in training, peacekeeping, and defence capacity-building. The meeting was indicative of both nations' commitment to fostering stronger defence relations and promoting regional peace through multilateral engagement,” the Additional Directorate General of Public Information at the IHQ of Ministry of Defence (Army) reported on X.
Earlier, General Upendra Dwivedi also met Major General Fadhil Omary Nondo, Land Force Commander of Tanzania, where discussions centered on strengthening defence cooperation and exploring collaborative opportunities in United Nations peacekeeping.
“On the sidelines of #UNTCC2025, #GeneralUpendraDwivedi, #COAS, held constructive discussions with Major General Fadhil Omary Nondo, focusing on improving defence cooperation and training exchanges,” the report stated.
Additionally, he met Major General Jean Claude Niyiburana, Chief of Land Forces of the Burundi National Defence Force, to further discuss commitments to enhance defence collaboration and peacekeeping efforts.
The UNTCC Chiefs’ Conclave 2025, hosted by the Indian Army from October 14-16, concluded with significant discussions, solemn ceremonies, and a renewed commitment to bolster United Nations peacekeeping operations. President Droupadi Murmu also engaged with the Chiefs and Representatives of UN Troop Contributing Nations during a visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
