Abu Dhabi, Jan 6 (NationPress) General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of India, addressed the officers at the UAE National Defence College (NDC) on Tuesday. His speech emphasized the shifting global security dynamics and the evolving nature of contemporary conflicts.

During his address, General Dwivedi underscored the pivotal leadership role of senior military officials and highlighted the necessity of collaborative efforts, including bilateral and multilateral defense partnerships between India, the UAE, and other regional allies.

According to a post on X by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), “Today, General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, addressed officers at the UAE National Defence College (NDC). His discourse focused on the changing global security landscape and the transformative aspects of modern warfare, particularly the role of technology.”

The COAS reiterated the importance of leadership among senior military officers and stressed the need for strong bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation to foster regional and global peace and security.

On the previous day, General Upendra Dwivedi met with Major General (Staff) Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, the Commander of the UAE Land Forces, to discuss enhancing military collaborations, training synergies, and strengthening bilateral defense ties between the two nations.

The ADGPI had shared, “As part of his ongoing visit to the UAE, General Upendra Dwivedi engaged with Major General Staff Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, focusing on promoting positive military interactions and advancing defense cooperation between India and the UAE.”

Additionally, General Dwivedi toured the Land Forces Museum, gaining insights into the rich history and military heritage of the UAE Land Forces.

He also met with India's Ambassador to the UAE, Deepak Mittal, where they discussed strategies for further strengthening India-UAE bilateral cooperation.

The ADGPI posted on X, stating, “During his visit to the UAE, General Upendra Dwivedi interacted with the Ambassador of India to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal. Their discussions centered on enhancing military diplomacy and reinforcing strategic ties.”

General Dwivedi is visiting the UAE to bolster defense cooperation and military-to-military relationships with allied nations. His itinerary includes meetings with senior leaders of the UAE Armed Forces and briefings on the UAE Army's structure and capabilities, as per the Ministry of Defence.

He will visit key military installations and engage with officers and troops, underscoring the strengthening defense partnership between India and the UAE. The Ministry of Defence stated, “These engagements aim to enhance bilateral defense cooperation and strategic understanding between the two armed forces.”

Following his engagements in the UAE, General Upendra Dwivedi will travel to Sri Lanka from January 7-8, where he will be welcomed with a Guard of Honour by the Sri Lanka Army. He will meet with senior military and civil authorities, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and the Deputy Minister of Defence, to discuss mutual interests in training cooperation and regional security.

During this visit, the COAS will address officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and interact with trainees at the Army War College in Buttala. He will also pay tribute at the IPKF War Memorial in honor of the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.

The Ministry of Defence remarked, “The visit of the Chief of the Army Staff to both the UAE and Sri Lanka reaffirms India’s dedication to enhancing defense cooperation and fostering mutual trust with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region and West Asia.
