New Delhi, May 25 (NationPress) In a significant development, India has officially surpassed Japan to secure its position as the world's fourth-largest economy. This achievement was celebrated by Union ministers and BJP leaders, who regarded it as a moment of national pride and a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a flourishing India.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, emphasized that this milestone is indicative of a decade of unwavering economic growth.
She declared, "Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India has consistently progressed over the last ten years. Previously ranked eleventh during the UPA era, India climbed to fifth, and now proudly holds the fourth position. This indicates that Prime Minister Modi’s ambition of achieving the status of the third-largest economy is well underway," she elaborated.
Echoing similar thoughts, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth labeled this achievement as a proud moment for every Indian.
"This is a moment of pride for our 140 crore citizens. It is indeed fortunate that we have emerged as the fourth-largest economic power globally. This reflects Prime Minister Modi's unwavering commitment... His vision is to advance our nation tirelessly and relentlessly through dedicated work," stated MoS Seth.
BJP MLA Harish Khurana remarked, "This is a proud moment for every Indian. The remarkable advancements our nation has made in the past eleven years are commendable. Prime Minister Modi aspires for us to soon become the third-largest economy worldwide."
BJP MLA Navin Jaiswal highlighted the transformative journey under Modi’s guidance. "Since Prime Minister Modi assumed leadership, India, which was once ranked eleventh, has now ascended to the fourth-largest economy in merely 10 to 11 years," he noted.
The official announcement confirming India’s leap over Japan was made by NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam during a press briefing following the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog.
"As I speak, we are the fourth-largest economy. We have reached a milestone of $4 trillion," he stated, referencing IMF data.
"Only the US, China, and Germany are larger than India. If we adhere to our current plans, within 2.5 to 3 years, we will ascend to the third-largest economy," he added.
Subrahmanyam also remarked that the prevailing geopolitical and economic conditions are advantageous for India's ongoing growth.
