Jerusalem, July 21 (NationPress) The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that they have successfully targeted and eradicated the military infrastructure utilized by the Houthi regime in the strategic port of Hodeidah, Yemen.
In a statement shared on X, the IDF specified, "The targeted infrastructure included: engineering equipment intended for port restoration, fuel storage, and vessels employed for military operations aimed at Israel and vessels navigating the maritime zone near the port, along with other components serving the Houthi terror regime".
The port of Hodeidah has been a focal point for the Houthi regime's military activities, leading to multiple assaults in previous instances. Besides launching terror actions against Israel and its allies, the IDF indicated that the port also served as a transfer point for arms supplied by the Iranian regime.
The IDF reported thwarting numerous efforts to reconstruct the terrorist infrastructure at the port.
"The IDF has detected ongoing activities aimed at reinstating terror infrastructure in the port by the forces of the Houthi terror regime, and thus, the elements facilitating this progression were targeted," the statement elaborated.
The IDF emphasized that the Houthi terror regime has repeatedly exploited maritime regions to conduct terrorist operations and exert pressure on commercial vessels traversing global shipping lanes.
The sites targeted in and around the port reportedly bear a strong resemblance to the Houthi terror regime's military exploitation of civilian infrastructure for the purpose of instilling fear.
The IDF reiterated its commitment to neutralizing any threats to Israel, including those posed by the Houthi terror regime.
"The IDF will respond decisively to the ongoing assaults by the Houthi terror regime against the citizens of Israel and stands resolute in its mission to eliminate any threats confronting the State of Israel, wherever necessary," it concluded.
