New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) Once again, India has criticized Pakistan for its persistent spread of outrageous falsehoods, insisting that the Pakistani government is descending to alarming new levels in its efforts to disseminate disinformation.

During a special media briefing on Operation Sindoor, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri pointed out the recent severe mortar attacks by the Pakistan Army in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch region, which targeted a Gurdwara and tragically led to the deaths of several members of the Sikh community. This incident starkly contradicts Islamabad's claims of not assaulting any places of worship.

“Instead of taking responsibility for these assaults, Pakistan absurdly claimed that it was the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Air Force that were attacking cities like Amritsar, attempting to shift blame onto India. This is a desperate maneuver by Pakistan to evade accountability for its aggressive actions, which is consistent with their history of deceiving and misleading the international community,” Misri stated.

“The Gurdwara in Poonch was specifically targeted by Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of local Sikh community members, including a Ragi of the Gurdwara,” he added.

Misri also highlighted the “provocative and escalatory actions” that Pakistan undertook on Thursday night, which aimed at Indian cities and civilian infrastructure, as well as military targets. He dismissed Pakistan's false accusations regarding attacks on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara.

“This is yet another blatant fabrication and part of Pakistan's disinformation campaign. As evidenced by the recent Pahalgam attack, Pakistan is again attempting to inject a communal narrative into the situation to foster discord,” the senior diplomat remarked.

“I want to emphasize that the official and overtly ridiculous denial of these attacks by Pakistan’s state machinery exemplifies their duplicity and the new lows they are reaching in their quest for disinformation,” he stated.

As the Indian Armed Forces continue to respond “proportionately, adequately, and responsibly” to Pakistan's ongoing escalatory efforts, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that the Kartarpur Corridor will remain closed “until further notice” due to the current security concerns.

“You are all aware of the situation along the entire India-Pakistan border and the regions adjacent to the Line of Control. Due to the existing security conditions, the services of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor have been suspended until further updates are available,” Misri concluded.

Point of View

It is essential to underscore that India stands firm in its commitment to transparency and truth. The allegations against Pakistan are serious and reflect a pattern of behavior that destabilizes the region. Our priority remains to uphold national security while seeking a peaceful resolution to conflicts. We must continue to scrutinize these narratives critically and provide accurate information to the public.
