New Delhi, Sep 10 (NationPress) Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla emphasized the crucial need for peace and stability in Nepal on Wednesday, highlighting that events in the Himalayan region have significant implications for India, especially for its border states.
During the AIMA Awards, Shringla stated to IANS, "For India, peace and stability in our immediate neighborhood is paramount. It is vital for the people in both Nepal and the bordering regions within India that normalcy is restored in Nepal as swiftly as possible."
He reiterated that India enjoys a special relationship with Nepal, which necessitates continuous engagement.
"From our standpoint, Nepal is an immediate neighbor, and we actively engage with Nepal in multiple ways. The special relationship we share with Nepal underscores our commitment to seeing outcomes that benefit the Nepalese people," he further elaborated.
On the topic of India's foreign policy, Shringla praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in navigating the country through challenging global circumstances.
"PM Modi's robust and stable leadership in foreign affairs has been remarkable. Amidst a volatile geopolitical landscape, our nation has managed to thrive," he remarked.
He noted that India has endured global challenges, including surging energy prices and international pressures, while sustaining steady economic growth.
"We are the fastest growing economy globally, with the lowest inflation rates and the highest foreign exchange reserves. All these achievements are a testament to PM Modi's strong leadership. Bharat stands firm and secure under the capable and stable guidance of the Prime Minister," he concluded.
Regarding US President Donald Trump's recent comments, Shringla indicated they reflect the significance of New Delhi's partnership with Washington.
