Bhopal, Sep 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Wednesday that the state administration is actively working with the Centre to facilitate the safe return of residents from Madhya Pradesh who are currently stranded in Nepal. The country is experiencing significant unrest, which has led to the resignation of its Prime Minister due to widespread Gen Z protests.
While the precise number of stranded individuals remains undisclosed by the state government, residents from Chhatarpur district in the Bundelkhand region have expressed their worries to local media about the safety of their family members stuck in Nepal.
In response, Chief Minister Yadav has instructed senior officials to work closely with the Centre to guarantee the safe repatriation of Madhya Pradesh's citizens. He remarked, “I have learned that some families from Chhatarpur district are in Nepal. I am concerned about their safety and have directed the relevant officials accordingly.”
Efforts are underway to ensure these individuals can return to India safely. “Officials are liaising with the Centre. During this crisis, our commitment to assist our citizens remains our highest priority,” he affirmed.
In the meantime, neighboring Uttar Pradesh has ramped up security measures along the Indo-Nepal border due to the escalating political situation in Nepal.
During a press briefing in Lucknow, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna stated, “Alerts have been issued across all seven districts of Uttar Pradesh that border Nepal. We have fortified all Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) border outposts, local police stations, and check posts. We are closely monitoring transit points and have increased police deployment in these areas to prevent any adverse spillover.”
He also mentioned that communication lines have been established for stranded Indian nationals. “We have shared three landline numbers and one WhatsApp number for those seeking to return. We are actively receiving messages from Indians in Nepal, and efforts are being made to facilitate their safe movement. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, police presence in border districts has been intensified, and border mobility has been restricted. We will adapt our measures based on the evolving situation in Nepal,” he added.
The DGP confirmed ongoing coordination with central forces and Nepalese authorities.
