The 24-year-old, who was the son of a Border Security Force (BSF) Constable, tragically passed away on Friday after suffering injuries inflicted by a group of assailants on December 9, officials stated.

Chief Minister Dhami informed CM Saha that five suspects have been apprehended in relation to the incident, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.

In a post on social media, CM Saha conveyed: "I spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji regarding the unfortunate incident involving our student Angel Chakma, who resided in Nandanagar under Debram Thakur Para in Tripura and was brutally attacked by a group of miscreants in Dehradun on December 9 before succumbing at Graphic Era Hospital."

Angel Chakma, who was studying at a local university, was severely injured in what is believed to be a racially charged attack.

Family sources in Agartala disclosed that the incident transpired on the evening of December 9 in the Selaqui area of Dehradun.

The victim's brother, Michael Chakma, filed a formal complaint with the police.

According to the complaint, the brothers were out to purchase necessities when they were confronted by a group of intoxicated youths.

What began as a verbal exchange escalated into violence, with the attackers reportedly using racial slurs and derogatory remarks about their appearance.

When the brothers protested, they were subjected to a vicious assault.

Michael Chakma, a student at a different university, alleged that he was struck on the head with a 'kada', a metal wrist ornament.

Angel sustained multiple stab wounds, including serious injuries to his neck and abdomen.

He was quickly transported to Graphic Era Hospital and admitted to intensive care; however, despite extensive medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries around 4 a.m. on Friday.
