In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi shared, "I met HSH Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein in Delhi earlier today. We discussed the significant potential for economic connections between our countries, especially following the India-EFTA and collaboration in fields like innovation, technology, skill development, and R&D."
Prince Alois is in India upon the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to attend the AI Impact Summit.
During their discussions, both leaders reaffirmed the friendly and cordial bilateral relations that exist between India and Liechtenstein.
The leaders expressed optimism regarding the implementation of the India–TEPA Free Trade Agreement, which is set to come into effect in October 2025. They believe this agreement will generate a new wave of bilateral economic engagement, with expectations of attracting US$100 billion in investments into India over the next 15 years. They committed to furthering cooperation, particularly in high-value manufacturing, advanced technologies, and innovation-driven sectors, as noted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
This meeting signifies a pivotal step in reinforcing the India–Liechtenstein partnership, highlighting the shared commitment of both nations to enhance mutually beneficial collaboration.
Liechtenstein, known as the fourth smallest country in Europe and the sixth smallest globally, is nestled between Switzerland and Austria.
India and the Principality of Liechtenstein established diplomatic ties in 1993, with the Indian Ambassador to Switzerland also serving as Ambassador to Liechtenstein. The year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of these diplomatic relations.
