New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) In a notable operation, India on Thursday morning targeted the Air Defence Radars and systems at various locations in Pakistan, successfully neutralizing the one situated in Lahore, according to a government statement.
On the night of May 7-8, Pakistan attempted to strike multiple military targets in Northern and Western India, including locations such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using both drones and missiles.
These threats were effectively neutralized by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. "The debris from these attacks is currently being recovered from various locations, which provide evidence of the Pakistani strikes," the release stated.
In response, India launched a significant strike targeting Pakistan's Air Defence Radars and systems at multiple sites.
According to the government statement, "The Indian response has matched the intensity and domain of Pakistani attacks. It has been confirmed that an Air Defence system in Lahore has been neutralized."
In addition, Pakistan has escalated its unprovoked artillery fire across the Line of Control, utilizing mortars and heavy-caliber artillery in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian government emphasized that this action was necessary due to the unprovoked heavy shelling from Pakistan, which has resulted in the loss of 16 lives.
"Sixteen innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing. India was compelled to respond to halt the Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan," the release added.
The Indian Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to non-escalation, as long as the same is reciprocated by the Pakistani military.
During a Press Briefing on Operation Sindoor on May 7, India characterized its response as focused, measured, and non-escalatory.
It was expressly stated that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted, and any future attacks on military targets in India would elicit an appropriate response.
