New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) India is poised to become the global capital for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). The Union Tourism Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and the private exhibition sector to establish the country as a premier MICE tourism destination.
The ongoing construction of modern exhibition and conference facilities across the nation positions India as a serious contender for the MICE tourism title.
“The exhibition and conference infrastructure in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, and even smaller towns post-G20 summit demonstrates that India is on the brink of significant opportunities in this sector,” stated Shekhawat during the inauguration of a seminar hosted by the Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA).
The minister proposed that numerous international events could be scheduled and hosted in India.
“In addition to being a travel destination, India is evolving into a major exhibition and conference hub. With anticipated growth in road, aviation, and railway sectors, combined with the enhancement of the exhibition industry, the country is on a promising path for economic development,” added Shekhawat.
Since 2014, India has experienced remarkable infrastructure advancements, including the construction of over 150,000 kilometers of roads, new railway stations, semi-high-speed trains, and more than 150 operational airports.
“All these factors have bolstered India's capabilities in hosting MICE events. The confidence gained from hosting the G20 nations has drawn global attention to India. In the future, India will undoubtedly become the MICE capital of the world,” the minister remarked to the audience.
The IEIA event serves as the annual international gathering for the Indian exhibition industry, featuring leaders from across the nation and abroad.
“This event provides a unique platform for business networking, knowledge sharing, and discussions on emerging trends that are shaping the future of our industry,” stated Sooraj Dhawan, President of IEIA.
