New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) India is poised to host the Global Media Dialogue for the very first time as part of WAVES in Mumbai on Friday, representing a significant achievement in the nation's interaction with the international media and entertainment sector.

More than 60 countries are anticipated to join in this event, with delegations hailing from regions including Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Countries such as Russia, Japan, the UK, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, among others, will be present at both the ministerial and senior official levels.

This dialogue is being coordinated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, alongside the Ministry of External Affairs. Its goal is to foster international collaboration, encourage best practices, and explore opportunities for policy alignment, talent sharing, and capacity enhancement within the global media framework.

The outcome is expected to culminate in a 'WAVES Declaration' from participating nations, reaffirming the significance of international cooperation in the media and entertainment domains, while also laying the groundwork for future collaborations and partnerships.

India, with its dynamic media landscape and rapidly expanding entertainment sector, is ideally suited to host such an important dialogue. The Global Media Dialogue signifies a crucial moment for India, positioning it at the forefront of global discussions on media's influence in shaping the world, as noted in an official statement.

This conference will convene key players from around the globe to deliberate on the changing role of media and entertainment in influencing societies, economies, and global cooperation. It will provide a platform for candid discussions on the evolving nature of the media and entertainment industry. Amidst rapid technological advancements, changing content trends, and increasing global interconnectivity, the dialogue seeks to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and viewpoints on media's role in societal transformation, fostering innovation, and enhancing international collaboration.

Alongside WAVES, India will also facilitate bilateral discussions with over 10 nations, including the United Kingdom, Russia, Indonesia, Kenya, Bhutan, and Egypt, as well as international entities such as the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). These interactions underscore India’s dedication to strengthening global partnerships and cooperation in critical areas of mutual interest, as stated.

The event will be attended by prominent Indian leaders, including Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Minister of State for I&B and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan.
