Bengaluru, Oct 23 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy stated on Thursday that the Kannada film industry is being admired by the wider Indian cinema community.
“The Kannada film industry is reaching impressive heights and delivering exceptional films. The broader Indian film community looks at us with respect. However, we must strive for even more success, and it is crucial that producers receive ample chances to create remarkable films,” Kumaraswamy remarked during an event honoring veteran director S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu for his 50 years of contribution to the Kannada film industry.
The Union Minister emphasized that for the Kannada film industry to continue thriving, leading actors need to participate in more films, and a greater number of new heroes should enter the domain.
He acknowledged the rich history and solid foundation of the Kannada film industry, highlighting figures like Dr Rajkumar, Dr Vishnuvardhan, and Ambarish who have significantly uplifted Kannada cinema.
“To keep this legacy vibrant, we need to produce more films. It is vital that we uphold the tradition established by those iconic actors,” he asserted.
Kumaraswamy expressed concern over the decline in the number of Kannada-language films being produced, leading audiences to opt for dubbed versions.
“We possess outstanding directors and captivating stories. My aspiration is for a surge in Kannada film productions,” the Minister expressed.
In his commendation of Rajendra Singh Babu, he noted that achieving five decades as a director and producer is a significant accomplishment.
“His family has dedicated themselves to the film industry. As someone who has experience as a film distributor and producer, I recall distributing and showcasing Rajendra Singh Babu’s films,” he added.
He also lauded the director, likening his work to legends such as the late Puttanna Kanagal and Siddalingaiah, who were celebrated for their films grounded in strong literary narratives.
