What Are the Objectives of the Indian Delegation in Brussels?

Brussels, June 4 (NationPress) Following a productive four-day engagement in the United Kingdom, a bipartisan Indian Parliamentary delegation, spearheaded by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad, has landed in Brussels with a clear vision of 'One Mission, One Message, One India'. This initiative is part of India's diplomatic strategy, known as Operation Sindoor, aimed at fostering unity against Pakistan-backed cross-border terrorism.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Saurabh Kumar, the Indian Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg, on Tuesday evening, marking the start of their three-day itinerary in Brussels.

On the social media platform X, the Indian Embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg announced: 'On One Mission, One Message, One India'. The all-party delegation led by MP Ravi Shankar Prasad was received by Saurabh Kumar upon their arrival. The upcoming meetings aim to solidify the global stance against cross-border terrorism.

Earlier that day, the Indian Embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg shared on X: 'After concluding a successful visit to the UK, the All Party Parliamentary Delegation is set to continue strengthening international partnerships and advancing India’s strategic engagements.'

After fruitful discussions in France, Italy, Denmark, and the UK, the delegation includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya, Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana, Congress MP Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran for this final leg in Brussels.

On the last day of their UK engagements, the delegation met with the Speaker of the House of Commons, UK media representatives, and had a significant discussion with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on India, as reported by the Indian Embassy in the UK.

Discussions primarily focused on India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and the response to cross-border terrorism through Operation Sindoor, as stated in the press release from the Indian Embassy in the UK.

On Tuesday, the delegation met Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons, at the UK Parliament, where they briefed him about Operation Sindoor—India's decisive response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Hoyle condemned all forms of terrorism and emphasized the importance of unity against these threats.

The delegation also engaged with UK and Indian media representatives at India House, emphasizing India's commitment to national security and countering state-sponsored terrorism.

In their final engagement, the delegation participated in a comprehensive meeting with the APPG India at the UK Parliament. Baroness Verma, the APPG President, welcomed the Indian delegation. Lord Bilimoria and MP Jeevun Sandher, the Co-Chairs of the APPG, expressed their unwavering support for India and condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack strongly.

The discussions included numerous current and former Members of the UK Parliament, showcasing a broad cross-party consensus in support of India's fight against terrorism, as reported by the Indian Embassy in the UK.

Previously, this delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad visited the UK to garner substantial backing for India's battle against terrorism and to shed light on Pakistan's role in promoting it.

Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted that during their UK visit, the delegation engaged with significant UK figures, including Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel, emphasizing the need for international accountability regarding terrorism financing while appreciating India's democratic values.

Prasad described the global concern over terrorism as a 'cancer' and called for scrutiny of Pakistan's utilization of international funds, highlighting the unique nature of this all-party delegation initiative.
