Chennai, Oct 30 (NationPress) More than 10,000 police officers are stationed in and around the town of Pasumpon to commemorate the 118th birth anniversary and 62nd Guru Puja celebrations honoring the renowned freedom fighter, Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.

This significant event, which commenced on October 28, welcomes prominent figures such as Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, numerous state ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and various political leaders.

The notable attendance of dignitaries has led to an increase in security measures and traffic controls throughout the Ramanathapuram district.

As per official reports, police units from several districts in southern Tamil Nadu have been deployed to ensure the celebrations are conducted smoothly.

Section 163 prohibitory orders are currently enforced, with strict limitations on vehicle access and crowd movement near the memorial.

Participants of the festival must acquire prior police consent and are permitted to use only their private vehicles. The use of rented and two-wheeled vehicles is prohibited in Pasumpon to avoid congestion and uphold order.

Due to the official government recognition on this Thursday, buses and goods vehicles from other regions will not be permitted entry via Parthibanur, Kamuthi, Mudukulathur, and Sayalgudi.

Vehicles coming from Madurai are being rerouted through Poovandhi, Sivaganga, Kalayarkoil, Sarukani, Thiruvadanai, R.S. Mangalam, and Devipattinam to access Ramanathapuram, with the same path available for return journeys. To assist devotees from surrounding villages, the government has arranged additional bus services to Pasumpon.

The police have advised participants against engaging in unsafe or illegal activities such as hanging outside moving vehicles, sitting on rooftops, setting off firecrackers, or shouting inflammatory slogans.

To ensure adherence to these regulations, 38 check posts have been set up across the district. Each special bus has been allocated two officers for security.

Furthermore, 300 body-worn cameras have been distributed to on-duty police, and 150 CCTV cameras have been installed for real-time monitoring.

Additionally, 57 two-wheelers and 53 patrol vehicles are continuously patrolling, with control rooms established to manage the entire operation.

With a three-tier security system, technology-assisted monitoring, and effective administrative coordination, the Ramanathapuram district police anticipate that the Thevar Jayanthi and Guru Puja celebrations will proceed safely and in full compliance.
