Delhi Police cracked a murder case in Rohini within two hours of beginning their investigation on 10 August, arresting three men allegedly responsible for the stabbing death of Mukesh Yadav, a 30-year-old resident of Bharat Vihar. The trigger, according to police, was a dispute over a mere ₹700 debt — money allegedly owed by the victim's brother to the main accused.

How the Incident Unfolded

On 9 August, Mukesh Yadav sustained a stab wound to his right shoulder near Begumpur Vihar in Sector-33, Rohini. A PCR call was received at Aggarsain Hospital, where he was initially treated before being referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre due to his critical condition. He was declared unfit to give a statement and died at approximately 2:18 am on 10 August, according to police.

Police said the confrontation began when the main accused, Sachin alias Sagar, approached Satish — Mukesh's brother — demanding repayment of ₹700. When Mukesh intervened in the argument, an altercation broke out and he was allegedly stabbed.

Crime Scene and Evidence

Officers from Begumpur Police Station inspected the site on the road between Bharat Vihar and Pansali in Sector-33, Rohini, where bloodstains were found. The Crime Team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team were deployed for examination and evidence collection. An FIR was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Swift Arrests at OYO Hotels

Investigators used local enquiries, technical surveillance, and witness examination to identify three suspects: Sachin alias Sagar (29), Pankaj alias Bhura (23), and Abhishek alias Atal (22). Continuous raids on OYO hotels and lodges led to all three being apprehended within two hours of the investigation commencing.

Police recovered the alleged murder weapon — a knife — along with blood-stained clothing and a mobile phone from the accused.

Who the Accused Are

Sachin alias Sagar is listed as a 'Bad Character' at Begumpur Police Station and has reportedly been involved in 10 previous theft cases. The other two accused — Pankaj and Abhishek — had no prior criminal record, according to police.

Rohini Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Satish Kumar confirmed the arrests, stating: 'The Begumpur Police Station team, led by ACP Sarthak Tyagi and the SHO of Begumpur, immediately took action and arrested all three accused within two to three hours of the incident. Sagar was the main accused. The motive behind the incident was a ₹700 transaction between the accused and the deceased's brother... within two to three hours, the police arrested the people who carried out this incident and also recovered the main evidence related to the case.'

Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway. The case underscores how petty financial disputes can escalate into fatal violence — this is not an isolated pattern in Delhi's outer districts, where debt-related altercations have previously resulted in serious crimes.
