New Delhi, Nov 19 (NationPress) Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, the Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, on Wednesday encouraged the youth of the Indian diaspora in Baku to embrace their dual identity with pride — merging India’s ancient wisdom with a contemporary, multicultural perspective.
Speaking to an audience of over 1,000 Indians in Azerbaijan's capital, he emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora in enhancing India’s global presence and shaping its future.
The event saw participation from professionals in sectors such as oil and gas, hospitality, and commodity trading, along with 380 Indian students studying in Azerbaijan.
Dr. Pemmasani commended the community's strong unity, which is evident in the formation of various cultural and student associations, including the Indian Azerbaijan Association, Azerbaijan Telugu Association, Baku Tamil Sangham, and the Indian Students Association of Azerbaijan.
He noted that these organizations nurture cultural ties, even when people are far from their homeland.
Discussing India’s rapidly evolving landscape, the Union Minister highlighted advancements in digital innovation, renewable energy, space exploration, and economic growth.
He stated that the Indian diaspora is an integral part of this transformative journey, noting that their accomplishments enhance the nation’s reputation, their investments create new opportunities, and their children act as cultural bridges.
"The diaspora is essential to India’s progress. Their success boosts India’s global reputation, their investments generate opportunities, and their offspring will serve as cultural connectors," he said.
Dr. Pemmasani urged the youth to remain connected to India, contribute by sharing knowledge, mentoring young entrepreneurs, and fostering new ideas.
He assured the community of the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Indians abroad, affirming that India’s doors will always remain open for them.
