New Delhi, May 24 (NationPress) India must strive to create future-ready cities, emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his opening remarks at the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog on Saturday.
The Prime Minister called upon the Centre and all states to unite and accelerate the pace of development.
"India is experiencing rapid urbanization. We should focus on building future-ready cities. Growth, innovation, and sustainability must drive the evolution of our urban spaces," stated PM Modi at the gathering.
"We need to enhance the speed of progress. If the Centre and all states collaborate like Team India, no objective is beyond reach," he added.
The Prime Minister also urged states to enhance tourism in the nation.
"Every state should develop at least one tourist destination that meets global standards, complete with all necessary facilities and infrastructure. One State: One Global Destination. This initiative would also promote the development of neighboring cities as tourist attractions," PM Modi articulated.
Describing development as the aspiration of 1.4 billion citizens, the PM asserted that "if every state is developed, then Bharat will be developed."
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of increasing women's participation in the workforce.
"We must ensure the inclusion of women in our workforce. We need to draft laws and policies that enable their respectful integration into the job market," he remarked.
The theme of the Governing Council meeting, hosted at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, is 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047'.
This meeting serves as a platform for the Centre and States/UTs to discuss strategies for advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and to build consensus on how states can serve as foundational elements in transforming India into a developed nation.
Furthermore, discussions will also include measures to promote entrepreneurship, enhance skills, and create sustainable employment opportunities nationwide.
