New Delhi, June 1 (NationPress) India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for May 2025 soared to Rs 2.01 lakh crore, reflecting a remarkable 16.4% growth compared to the Rs 1.72 lakh crore collected in May 2024, as per data released by the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.
This achievement signifies the second consecutive month wherein GST revenues have surpassed the Rs 2 lakh crore threshold, highlighting robust economic activity and ongoing consumption growth.
In April, GST collections reached an unprecedented Rs 2.37 lakh crore, marking a 13% increase from March.
This surge was primarily attributed to year-end financial filings and reconciliations. Nonetheless, the strong figures in May indicate that the positive trend is persisting beyond seasonal adjustments.
Net GST revenue, which encompasses refunds, also experienced a substantial rise, climbing over 20% to Rs 1.73 lakh crore.
