New Delhi, Sept 8 (NationPress) The Minister for Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasized on Monday the findings from the World Economic Forum’s ‘The Future of Jobs Report 2025,’ revealing that India boasts an unemployment rate of just 2 percent, the lowest compared to all G20 nations.
He highlighted that employment opportunities have surged across various sectors, coinciding with India’s swift economic advancement, and pointed out the crucial government initiatives that have facilitated this growth.
The minister spoke at an event focused on the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labour & Employment and the organizations ‘Mentor Together’ and ‘Quikr’ aimed at enhancing job prospects and youth employability through the National Career Service (NCS) Portal.
Mandaviya noted, “The National Career Service (NCS) platform, currently featuring almost 52 lakh registered employers, 5.79 crore job seekers, and more than 7.22 crore job listings, is evolving into a comprehensive solution for employment-related services. At present, there are over 44 lakh active job openings on the portal.”
“In the past year, the Ministry has established partnerships with ten significant organizations, including Amazon and Swiggy, successfully generating nearly five lakh job openings,” he added.
With a renewed emphasis on youth employment, Mandaviya recalled that at the onset of its third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a comprehensive package comprising five flagship schemes with a total allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore aimed at enhancing employment, skills, and opportunities for 4.1 crore youth.
A standout feature of this initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), which allocates Rs 99,446 crore to incentivize the creation of over 3.5 crore jobs within two years, benefitting 1.92 crore individuals entering the workforce for the first time.
Welcoming the collaboration with the two organizations, Mandaviya stated that these partnerships will facilitate suitable employment opportunities and structured mentoring for job seekers, especially with the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana set to commence this August. These collaborations will not only benefit the youth but the entire nation, he emphasized.
The partnership with Mentor Together aims to assist two lakh youth in its first year, reaching out to one lakh from NCS and one lakh entrants under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, providing tailored career mentoring with community-level outreach to ensure no job seeker is overlooked.
This initiative will also support first-time job seekers, particularly from marginalized backgrounds, offering them personalized guidance from over 24,000 trained professionals.
The renewed MoU with Quikr seeks to bolster the employment ecosystem by integrating more than 1,200 daily job listings from Quikr Jobs into the NCS portal across over 1,200 cities. This partnership will enhance real-time job access for millions of seekers, particularly from rural and underserved areas, the minister concluded.
