Agartala, April 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Sunday that the state's unemployment rate is lower than the national average, and the government is actively working to enhance this further. During a ceremony where appointment letters were distributed to 479 individuals seeking government jobs, he referenced the periodic labour force survey conducted by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, revealing that Tripura's unemployment rate was 10% compared to the national average of 5.80% for the fiscal year 2018-19.

Currently, the unemployment rate has reportedly decreased to 1.7%, while the national average stands at 3.2%. This indicates a significant rise in employability within the state, Saha noted.

Since the BJP government took office in Tripura in 2018, a total of 16,942 individuals have secured government positions across various departments, achieved without any political influence or favoritism.

Additionally, through an outsourcing initiative, 5,771 people have been employed in different sectors, and many more have found roles in private security and other services, Saha stated.

The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation has also facilitated employment for 1,617 individuals.

On February 6, during an event in Agartala, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to 2,806 job seekers across 37 departments, marking a record for the state in terms of the number of government jobs offered in a single event.

The government has initiated regular training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of government employees, according to CM Saha.

Moreover, 91,871 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) have become 'Lakhpati Didis' through their entrepreneurial efforts.

Currently, there are 53,623 SHGs operating under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, involving 4.84 lakh rural women, and around 5,941 SHGs under the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission, engaging 63,743 urban women.

The state has allocated Rs 746.80 crore in financial assistance (revolving fund) to SHG members for the production of various goods and business ventures.

Emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, the Chief Minister stated that the Tripura government prioritizes transparency in governance, job creation, service delivery to citizens, and other administrative sectors.
