Agartala, July 31 (NationPress) Following allegations from former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar about the BJP government's role in increasing unemployment and poor governance in the state, Chief Minister Manik Saha responded sharply on Thursday. He criticized the former Left government for "allocating jobs through party offices based on political connections."
The Chief Minister emphasized that the current (BJP) administration is committed to offering employment grounded in merit and a transparent process.
During a state-level training event for Medical Officers (Dental), Nursing Officers, and Community Health Officers (CHOs) at Pragna Bhavan, CM Saha stated: "We reject divisive policies. The previous administration engaged in such practices. Former Chief Minister Sarkar accuses me of distributing jobs, but what is the basis for this claim? Under their administration, jobs were given out only to those affiliated with the party."
The current government has successfully generated over 19,000 jobs transparently, with no challenges to the (BJP) recruitment process.
“The situation with the 10,323 teachers case is now a part of history,” asserted CM Saha.
He further accused the CPI-M of misleading the public with falsehoods.
Approximately 10,323 jobs for Tripura government school teachers were canceled after a Supreme Court ruling upheld a Tripura High Court decision that found irregularities in hiring during the Left regime.
CM Saha pointed out that government employees previously had to rally for Dearness Allowance (DA). He noted, "Since I took office, no employee has needed to protest. I am actively addressing the DA disparity with the Centre, although funding is a challenge. In the past, bribes were common for transfers; now, no one can claim jobs are exchanged for payments,” Saha asserted.
As the health portfolio holder, CM Saha announced that the state government is working on a method to enhance HIV screening.
He remarked that Tripura now possesses all necessary medical facilities, highlighting that the state has nine super-specialty health services.
“Around 90% of diseases are treated within the state, and we also provide cancer treatment services,” he stated.
He pointed out that due to a lack of awareness, many still seek medical treatment outside the state.
CM Saha praised the performance of Tripura Medical College and stated: "We are enhancing sub-divisional and district hospitals. Self-development is our focus. We've increased bed capacity at AGMC and GB Hospital and directed the addition of 100 more beds."
He also revealed that kidney transplant procedures have commenced in the state.
“Previously, patients had to leave Tripura and incur significant expenses for kidney transplants. Now, we have successfully performed three transplants within the state. We’ve signed a MoU with Mohan Foundation for liver transplants and are also initiating bone marrow transplant services,” Saha added.
Former Tripura Chief Minister Sarkar, a former CPI (M) politburo member, criticized the BJP government, stating during a demonstration for various demands, including smart electricity meters, that the BJP had promised to fill 50,000 vacant government posts before taking power in Tripura. However, the Chief Minister recently claimed that only 19,000 jobs were provided.
“Before the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP made 299 promises, none of which have been fulfilled yet. There is total lawlessness in the state,” Sarkar alleged.
