New Delhi, Feb 14 (NationPress) The decision by the Donald Trump administration to extradite Tahawwur Rana, a principal suspect in the 26/11 attacks, represents a substantial victory for India. This achievement is largely attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong rapport with the US President, remarked Ujjwal Nikam, the special Public prosecutor for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks on Friday.

The US President, following bilateral discussions with PM Modi in Washington, declared that Tahawwur Rana would be sent back to India. Rana is currently serving time in a high-security prison in the United States. Recently, the US Supreme Court denied his appeal concerning his conviction for the terror attacks, facilitating his extradition.

In a conversation with IANS, Ujjwal Nikam expressed his appreciation for the prompt approval from the US President regarding Rana's extradition, emphasizing that this reflects India's elevated status on the priority list under the new administration of Donald Trump.

“The return of those responsible for the heinous terror attack to India demonstrates our nation's increasing strength. The extradition of Tahawwur Rana has also been made feasible due to PM Modi's longstanding personal relationship with Donald Trump,” Nikam informed IANS.

He added that Donald Trump is a decisive leader and his announcement of the deportation of the 2008 attacks' perpetrator shortly after taking office carries significant weight.

“This indeed indicates the United States’ commitment to fostering robust and deeper relations with India,” he concluded.

Ujjwal Nikam also suggested that Rana’s interrogation by NIA officials could uncover numerous hidden truths, including Pakistan's direct involvement in orchestrating the infamous 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a businessman of Pakistani descent, has been convicted for his participation in the 26/11 attacks that led to the deaths of 164 individuals. His accomplice, David Headley, has admitted guilt and cooperated against Rana.
