New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the late Vijayaraje Scindia, a former Rajya Sabha member known affectionately as Rajmata Scindia, on her birth anniversary, acknowledging her significant contributions to fortifying the Jana Sangh and the BJP.

Born in 1919 in what is now Madhya Pradesh, Vijayaraje Scindia was the wife of the last Maharaja of Gwalior, Jiwajirao Scindia. She was repeatedly elected to both Houses of Parliament and was instrumental in the founding of the BJP.

In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, "Honoring Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Ji on her birth anniversary. Her commitment to societal service remains indelible. She was pivotal in bolstering the Jana Sangh and the BJP. Her dedication to our cultural heritage was unwavering, and she worked tirelessly to promote it."

He also shared a video message that emphasized her role in the Independence movement.

"During the last century, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia was among the select few who guided the nation. She was not just a figure of affection but a decisive leader and skilled administrator, witnessing every major event from the Independence movement onwards," PM Modi remarked.

"She devoted her entire life to the service of the people. Despite her royal background, she chose to live a life dedicated to the welfare of others with maternal love," he added.

The Prime Minister assured that the government would realize Vijayaraje Scindia's vision of a robust India through the initiative of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

"Her aspiration was a secure, strong, and progressive India. We will realize her dreams through the commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The inspiration of Rajmata continues to guide us," he noted.

Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also honored the Rajamata, emphasizing that her life was dedicated to public welfare and uplifting the marginalized. He described her as the embodiment of love and maternal care.

"I have been fortunate to receive her immense love and blessings. The way she nurtured and fortified the Jan Sangh and the BJP in Madhya Pradesh with dedication serves as a beacon for all of us," Chouhan stated on X.

He added, "The fervent ideals of the revered Rajmata, who remained steadfast in her principles, will forever motivate us in our service to the nation and public welfare."

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also paid tribute, calling Vijayaraje Scindia a symbol of sacrifice, compassion, and commitment. "The revered Rajmata Ji made unparalleled contributions to shaping the Jan Sangh and BJP with the sacred aim of national service. Her exceptional character will always inspire us," he concluded.
