Initiatives to Elevate Rajasthani Language to State Language Status: Official

Jaipur, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Secretary of the School Education Department in Rajasthan, Krishna Kunal, convened a meeting on Thursday to deliberate on the proposal of designating the Rajasthani language as a state language.
During this gathering, scholars unanimously supported the notion of categorizing Rajasthani as a language that represents all dialects spoken across Rajasthan, emphasizing that Rajasthani is inclusive and does not negate any dialect.
Discussions also encompassed the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, underscoring the importance of providing foundational education to children in their native languages.
According to an official, the Rajasthan government is actively working towards the swift implementation of this policy, aiming to promote Rajasthani from the grassroots level.
Secretary Krishna Kunal stated, "Aligned with the vision of Education Minister Madan Dilawar, the government is committed to ensuring the preservation and development of the Rajasthani language. We will undertake all necessary actions to reach this objective."
Among the distinguished scholars in attendance were Omkar Singh Lakhawat, Govind Shankar Sharma, Kalyan Singh Shekhawat, Pramod Sharma, and Deepika Vijayvargiya, among others.
Lakhawat suggested the establishment of a dedicated panorama for Rajasthani and Braj languages and emphasized the urgency of implementing recommended strategies for the language's enhancement.
He called for a collaborative approach to ensure the flourishing of Rajasthani.
The scholars highlighted the richness and extensiveness of the Rajasthani language dictionary, asserting its uniqueness. They contended that granting Rajasthani official language status and integrating it into educational systems would naturally foster its popularity among younger generations. However, they cautioned that without incorporating Rajasthani into teaching and educational materials, its preservation and growth could be at risk.
Officials provided updates on various initiatives by the education department aimed at fostering the development of the Rajasthani language. These initiatives include the integration of Rajasthani language and literature in the NTT examination, the publication of literature in local dialects at the district level, and the acquisition of Rajasthani language books under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which are then distributed to students.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to prioritize the promotion and acknowledgment of the Rajasthani language as a vital cultural and educational initiative.
