Bengaluru, June 21 (NationPress) The 11th International Day of Yoga was commemorated with great enthusiasm throughout Karnataka, where thousands gathered, including the Governor, union and state ministers, legislators, actors, and students, at various events held to celebrate this significant occasion.

Governor Gehlot actively participated in the ceremony organized by the Government of Karnataka in front of the Vidhana Soudha, joined by MLAs, MLCs, and ministers.

Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi engaged in Yoga at the renowned tourist site Pattadakallu, known for its Chalukyan-era temples that are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Railways V. Somanna celebrated Yoga Day at the historic site of Halebidu in Hassan district.

Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje took part in the event organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India at the Tipu Summer Palace in Bengaluru, an important archaeological site.

Alongside her, former Bengaluru Police Commissioner and BJP leader Bhaskar Rao joined the celebrations.

Speaking to reporters, Shobha Karandlaje remarked, “Today signifies the 11th International Day of Yoga. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, the United Nations recognized June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, celebrated globally every year.”

“Yoga Day is observed in 180 nations and over 1.2 million locations. It’s inspiring to see individuals from other countries come to India to learn yoga, and then return home to teach it. Likewise, many Indians have ventured abroad to promote yoga. Today, yoga transcends India — it is acknowledged and practiced worldwide. We aim to share yoga, Ayurveda, and millets with everyone.”

“Our Prime Minister envisioned a contribution to global health, not just for India. Numerous leaders, NGOs, educators, and volunteers are participating in today’s events. I extend my gratitude to all,” she added.

The Karnataka BJP unit commemorated the occasion in front of its office, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru. Kannada film actress Sudharani and actor Komal participated in the event, along with thousands of others.

Speaking to the press, State BJP President Vijayendra stated, “Prominent Yoga guru Raghavendra Pai is spearheading today’s celebrations. Yoga fosters both physical and mental wellness, facilitating a healthy lifestyle.”

Governor Gehlot urged citizens to embrace yoga for a healthier life. Chairperson of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti expressed that yoga should be mandatory in primary and high schools and will discuss this with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

“I will commence a regular yoga practice tomorrow. Yoga should be compulsory for students from Class 1 to Class 10,” Horatti stated.
