On Monday, Minister Oram presided over a crucial high-level review meeting attended by the Secretary and senior officials from the Ministry, aimed at evaluating the preparations for the 11th anniversary celebration of the International Day of Yoga in New Delhi.
The festivities are part of the ongoing national awareness campaign, Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, focusing on benefit saturation.
The Minister remarked that this year's celebrations in tribal regions would showcase the unique blend of indigenous wellness practices alongside modern yoga. He encouraged robust participation from tribal communities through yoga demonstrations, wellness sessions, and grassroots awareness programs, as noted in a Ministry statement.
Highlighting the essence of yoga, the Union Minister stated that it transcends mere exercise, serving as a pathway to achieving harmony among body, mind, and spirit.
He noted that tribal communities, with their profound connection to nature and traditional healing methods, epitomize this harmony, insisting that this year's Yoga Day should celebrate both modern and indigenous wellness systems.
As part of the celebrations, approximately 1.4 lakh students from 477 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) and over 10 lakh tribal individuals are expected to engage in yoga sessions and associated activities during the 11th International Day of Yoga.
The Minister also emphasized the need for effective collaboration with the Ministries of AYUSH, State Tribal Welfare Departments, Tribal Research Institutes, EMRSs, Ashram Schools, Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India, National ST Finance and Development Corporation, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of Yoga Day celebrations.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of utilizing digital platforms, community radio, and local tribal languages to enhance last-mile communication and mass engagement for the event.
These initiatives reflect the Ministry's unwavering commitment to fostering holistic health, cultural pride, and community empowerment in tribal areas through the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, an IEC campaign running from June 15-30.
