Chennai, Aug 19 (NationPress) The government of Tamil Nadu has initiated a significant reshuffle of senior IPS officers, implementing new appointments for crucial roles within the state's police force. This transfer, publicized by the Home (SC) Department via an official announcement, takes immediate effect.
As per the directive, Dr. N. Shreenatha, IPS, formerly the Superintendent of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) at the DGP's office in Tamil Nadu, has now been designated as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Cyber Crime Cell within the Greater Chennai Police. This position addresses a critical opening in the city's cyber policing unit, which is increasingly challenged by the rise in online fraud and digital offenses.
Taking over Dr. Shreenatha's former role, Ms. J. Mutharasi, IPS, currently serving as the Superintendent of Police-II for the Crime Branch CID in the South Zone of Chennai, is now appointed as the Superintendent of Police/Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) at the DGP headquarters.
The government has also appointed Thiru Andiyan, IPS, who was previously in the Vacancy Reserve at the DGP's office, as the Superintendent of Police for the State Police Master Control Room in Chennai. He will succeed Thiru S. Sarvesh Raj, IPS, in this pivotal role that is central to statewide law enforcement coordination and emergency response.
Officials have indicated that these transfers form part of routine administrative measures designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the force and ensure the optimal placement of senior officers.
Given the increasing dependence on technology, the impending festival season, and heightened security concerns, the Cyber Crime Cell, Law and Order division, and Master Control Room are regarded as essential components of policing in Tamil Nadu.
The Home Department's directive emphasized that all involved officers should assume their new duties without delay. Additionally, sources within police headquarters have suggested that further transfers may occur in the near future as part of ongoing administrative updates.
