Bengaluru, Aug 19 (NationPress) The BJP in Karnataka has intensified its criticism of the Siddaramaiah administration regarding the mass grave investigation, asserting on Tuesday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) established to examine the Dharmasthala case is a ploy orchestrated by the Congress party.
The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, R. Ashoka, addressed the media, stating, "The Dharmasthala SIT is merely a Congress conspiracy, crafted by ultra-Leftists and carried out by the Siddaramaiah government."
He further criticized, "This so-called investigation into Dharmasthala is nothing more than a fabricated scheme devised by the Congress high command - scripted and directed by ultra-Leftists and urban Naxals. These factions, tightly associated with CM Siddaramaiah, are the ones leading and influencing the government."
"Let it be known: The Dharmasthala SIT was hastily constituted solely to tarnish Sanatan Dharma and its esteemed institutions. The Congress-led government in Karnataka is merely following the orders of ultra-Leftists and urban Naxals instead of honoring the faith of the people. The sentiments of millions of Hindus are being belittled for the sake of Congress' appeasement politics," Ashoka asserted.
"This is not justice; rather, it is an act of Hinduphobia, driven by the conversion mafia and their urban Naxal collaborators," Ashoka added.
Ashoka declared that Karnataka will not forgive this conspiracy. "CM Siddaramaiah, Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar, and the entire cabinet must apologize to the people of Karnataka for this farce," he stated.
BJP MLC C.T. Ravi, addressing the media at Vidhana Soudha, commented, "Although the Congress-led government has responded to the Dharmasthala case, has any action been taken? What measures have been taken against those who made baseless accusations? A hate campaign has been conducted on YouTube -- what actions have been initiated against it? If no action has been taken, what is the reason for this inaction? The government needs to clarify whose orders have prevented action from being taken."
"They must speak the truth. Is there any pressure? If not, why has no action been initiated yet? They remain silent. Based on an anonymous complaint, they launched an investigation and excavated 17 sites in Dharmasthala. What did they uncover?" Ravi questioned.
"Before the investigation report was even submitted, hatred was propagated, and false accusations were made. What actions has the government taken regarding this? The government must step forward and clarify why they are not initiating any action," Ravi stated.
Commenting on the Election Commission of India's (ECI) directive to Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit within seven days or apologize for his vote-theft claims, Ravi remarked, "Hit and run is his habit. He made accusations and then vanished. If he had evidence and faith in the Constitution, he could have filed a complaint. To date, no complaint has been lodged. This demonstrates his lack of evidence. He made false allegations and attempted to fabricate a false narrative, then fled to Bihar. When he wins, he speaks of people’s trust, but when he loses, he blames EVMs and the ECI."
"Whenever he faces electoral defeat, he always has pre-prepared allegations ready," Ravi mocked.
BJP MLA Harish Poonja stated that while the Karnataka government has responded to the Dharmasthala issue, the BJP has consistently called for a logical resolution to the case. "The public is demanding a report on the investigation's status. The Karnataka government should release it promptly," he insisted.
When questioned about his controversial assertion that CM Siddaramaiah was responsible for the deaths of 28 Hindus, MLA Harish Poonja clarified, "This is a matter from 2023, which came to light after I won the election. At that time, the Karnataka government filed a case against me, and the court granted me bail. This issue has been misrepresented on social media. I have already clarified this in the Assembly."
It is worth noting that the issue resurfaced after Mahesh Shetty Timarodi reiterated the claim that CM Siddaramaiah was responsible for the deaths of 28 Hindus. This matter was discussed during the Assembly session on Monday, and the government has pledged legal action against Shetty, who is among the activists leading the campaign seeking "justice" in the Dharmasthala murders case for years.
MLA Poonja further asserted, "There is no legal framework for social media, and it is being exploited to disseminate propaganda. We have urged the government to establish a legal framework for YouTube channels. Otherwise, they will perpetuate misinformation in society."
