New Delhi, June 14 (NationPress) Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former MP Dr S.T. Hasan has delivered a sharp critique of Israel regarding its actions in Gaza, labeling it a "terrorist state" and voicing concern over India's silence amid the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the region.

In an interview with IANS, the prominent leader addressed the recent conflict between Israel and Iran, stating, “The world needs to recognize that the assaults are perpetrated by Israel, not Iran. Why are only Israel, the United States, and European nations permitted to have nuclear arms? Why shouldn't an Islamic country have one? Iran is not even in the process of developing a nuclear weapon, but if it were, global attention should shift to disarmament rather than selective enforcement.”

Hasan further challenged the hypocrisy of the international community by asserting, “What is unfolding in Gaza transcends mere catastrophe. Israel is relentless in its bombardment of hospitals, ambulances, and all civilian infrastructures.”

“Women, children, and the elderly are being slaughtered mercilessly. Families are witnessing their loved ones entombed under debris. Yet, the global community remains silent. Is this what justice looks like?” he questioned.

Criticizing India's position for straying from the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', he remarked, “India, as the largest democracy globally, prides itself on values of compassion and justice. Why, then, is there no public outrage? Why is our government silent while humanity suffers?”

Regarding support from the Muslim world for Iran, he pointed out that even Saudi Arabia, previously an adversary of Iran, is now aligning with them. “Today, Saudi Arabia is allied with Iran, not for political reasons, but out of a sense of humanity. All Islamic nations must come together. If India, founded on principles of peace and harmony, joins this coalition, Israel’s brutality will not continue unchallenged.”

Hasan's remarks are particularly relevant as various opposition parties, including Congress, also criticize Indian foreign policy for not supporting Palestine. Recently, India abstained from a vital vote in the United Nations General Assembly that called for an "immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire" in Gaza.
