Key Takeaways
Jabalpur, February 20 (NationPress) - The district of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh has experienced significant communal strife following a conflict between two factions reportedly concerning the Public Address System.
The incident occurred in the sensitive town of Shihora, located within the Jabalpur district. Fortunately, swift measures enacted by local authorities ensured that law and order was promptly restored.
Violence erupted during the evening prayers at a temple situated in the Azad Chowk market area, near both a Durga temple and a Mosque.
The clash saw stone-pelting from both parties involved.
However, senior officials from both the district administration and police swiftly arrived at the scene with a considerable force of security personnel, effectively bringing the situation under control.
Authorities are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the area to pinpoint individuals implicated in the stone-pelting and vandalism incidents.
The administration has issued a strong warning against the spread of misinformation and rumors on social media platforms.
Collector Raghavendra Singh has urged citizens to depend solely on official communications and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
“Fortunately, no severe injuries have been reported from either side, and the situation is being closely monitored,” stated Singh.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sampat Upadhya informed IANS that tensions flared following a minor disagreement at a religious venue.
“The situation was stabilized within a few hours. Nonetheless, given the religious sensitivities, substantial security presence has been established in the disputed area,” mentioned SP Upadhya.
“More than a dozen individuals suspected of participating in the stone-pelting and inciting communal tensions have been detained for questioning, and searches for additional suspects are ongoing,” Upadhyay conveyed to IANS, adding that no significant damage occurred to any religious structures.
