Koderma, Feb 12 (NationPress) A fierce conflict erupted between two factions in the Domchanch region of Jharkhand’s Koderma district on Wednesday due to the removal and placement of hoardings and banners near the Ravidas temple.
The situation quickly escalated into stone pelting, resulting in injuries to at least 15 individuals, including three police officers.
Reports indicate that tensions rose when one group began taking down hoardings and posters that were displayed near the Ravidas temple. These banners pertained to the ongoing construction of a Durga Mata temple located nearby. The removal triggered strong resistance from another group, leading to heated disputes that rapidly turned into a physical altercation.
Witnesses reported that as the conflict intensified, both sides resorted to heavy stone pelting, injuring numerous individuals. Among the injured were Omprakash, the in-charge of Domchanch Police Station, and two other officers, one of whom suffered a head injury.
Upon learning of the violence, local police swiftly arrived at the location to restore order. However, the enraged crowd targeted the police with stones, compelling officials to deploy mild force to disperse the agitators.
Senior officials, including Riya Singh, the Koderma Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), along with a substantial police presence, reached the scene to re-establish control.
In the aftermath, the region has been placed under heavy security, with additional forces assigned to prevent further disturbances.
After the clashes, several shops in the vicinity were closed, and a lingering sense of tension remained in the area.
Authorities have detained multiple individuals believed to be involved in the altercation and confiscated several motorcycles discovered at the site.
The injured parties have been transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Local authorities are vigilantly monitoring the situation, with ongoing investigations to pinpoint those accountable for instigating the violence.
