Amaravati, June 19 (NationPress) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of displaying characteristics of a “dictator” by attempting to stifle dissent and silence those who challenge the misuse of police.
He asserted that Chandrababu Naidu is afraid of his governance failures, with his impatience evident in diversionary tactics and the imposition of false charges against political rivals.
Jagan Mohan Reddy maintained that the overwhelming public response to his recent tours serves as clear evidence of the significant anti-incumbency sentiment that has emerged within just one year.
During a press conference, Jagan criticized Chandrababu Naidu's strategy of targeting lesser-known individuals, employing coercion to extract confessions and pursuing cases against prominent YSRCP leaders, oblivious to the fact that the public can see through his tactics.
The notable success of the ‘Betrayal Day,’ which garnered significant public support, illustrates that anti-incumbency is rapidly escalating, as none of the Super Six promises have been fulfilled, and the law and order situation is deteriorating due to harassment and fabricated cases, according to the former Chief Minister.
“My visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday amid curfew-like conditions reflects the extent of repressive measures being implemented by the Chandrababu Naidu administration. What is wrong with an Opposition leader visiting to comfort a family?” he questioned, adding that large crowds are turning out as they are disillusioned with the government and are looking towards YSRCP.
He accused the government of trying to sabotage his Podili visit by imposing excessive restrictions, despite large crowds gathering to see him.
A small group of TDP workers attempted to disrupt the meeting, while farmers, who came in large numbers, remained composed. Yet, cases were filed against farmers instead of those who attempted to disrupt the rally, he noted.
The YSRCP leader stated that there is significant repression in the state, and the public is expressing their frustration at every opportunity by supporting YSRCP initiatives.
Individuals associated with YSRCP, including those close to Jagan, are being incarcerated based on fabricated allegations stemming from confession statements by minor figures, as evidenced by the case against Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, the latest in a series of arrests.
Bhaskar Reddy’s security personnel has filed a case presenting documentary and visual proof of his mistreatment and has approached the court, he added. This is similar to the cases involving Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Dhanunjaya Reddy, Krishnamohan Reddy, Raj Kasireddy, and Nandigama Suresh, who are all being targeted, along with attempts to implicate Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and PV Mithun Reddy.
He highlighted that the Supreme Court had to exercise its discretionary powers to grant bail to Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, who was arrested under similar circumstances.
“What actions should be taken against those TDP workers and leaders who assaulted Sakshi's properties at various locations? This is nothing less than rampant rowdyism,” he questioned.
Jagan alleged that Chandrababu has deceived women and all demographics by failing to fulfill his electoral commitments, particularly the Stri Nidhi, Talliki Vandanam, free bus travel, Deepam scheme, and other initiatives, even after one year in office.
Atrocities against women and young girls are on the rise, with no complaints being filed or investigations initiated. It was only after the Kuppam incident went viral on social media that Chandrababu Naidu responded, he stated.
