Kolkata, Oct 7 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Shankar Ghosh stated on Tuesday that he did not grant consent for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to visit him at the hospital where he is receiving treatment.
In a post on social media platform X, the BJP MLA expressed, "I have just come to know through the media that CM Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital."
"Earlier today, the hospital management informed me about the Chief Minister's intended visit, but I denied consent -- also, the BJP MP in the ICU cannot communicate, so his consent is irrelevant," he added.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Banerjee arrived at a private hospital in Siliguri to meet the injured BJP MP, Khagen Murmu, who is hospitalized there.
Despite visiting Khagen Murmu, the Chief Minister chose not to meet Ghosh, who is also admitted to the same hospital.
The Chief Minister briefly conversed with Khagen Murmu, inquiring about his health status.
She assured Khagen Murmu's family of her support regarding his medical treatment.
Additionally, she advised the injured MP to adhere to the doctors' recommendations.
Commenting on the situation, the BJP MLA criticized CM Banerjee for her brief engagement.
"I have been informed that she spent less than a minute and a half with MP Khagen Murmu, while her media team captured photographs and videos for publicity purposes. There was no genuine interaction, as he is unable to speak," Ghosh remarked.
The BJP leader also accused CM Banerjee of performing theatrics following their attacks.
"This exemplifies Mamata Banerjee's cynical and unacceptable politics. She lacks the moral standing to engage in such theatrics after sending TMC goons after BJP legislators who were there to facilitate relief operations — a task her government should have been managing," he stated.
Ghosh concluded, "No amount of dramatics or staged photo opportunities will assist CM Mamata Banerjee. The BJP remains steadfast in supporting the people of Bengal, regardless of TMC's intimidation tactics."
BJP Maldaha Uttar MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were violently attacked by miscreants while on their way to assist landslide-affected individuals in North Bengal and distribute relief supplies.
This incident took place in Nagrakata within the Jalpaiguri district of North Bengal.
Both leaders are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Siliguri.
