Amaravati, Feb 14 (NationPress) Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and President of YSRCP, vehemently criticized the detention of ex-MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, accusing the ruling TDP-led coalition of grossly misusing power.
He denounced the coalition's efforts to suppress political rivals through unlawful detentions.
“The legal system in Andhra Pradesh has been entirely incapacitated due to the interference of the TDP government,” Jagan Mohan Reddy stated in a message on X.
He charged the ruling party with orchestrating illegal arrests under the guise of enforcing the Red Book Constitution, which he claimed was being exploited to erode the democratic structure of the state.
Jagan cited the arrest of Vallabhaneni Vamsi as a blatant example of political revenge. He pointed out that in the incident concerning the alleged assault on the TDP’s office, a Dalit youth testified in court, disclosing that TDP leaders coerced him into filing a fabricated case.
Jagan lambasted Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly employing unethical methods to influence the investigation and intimidate witnesses.
He also accused the police of acting as an instrument of political harassment, noting that the Dalit youth and his family faced threats and coercion immediately following his testimony.
Despite the case being under judicial oversight, the ruling party persisted in interfering with the investigation, which he labeled as a serious insult to the judiciary and a deliberate effort to undermine the legal process.
Firmly denouncing the wrongful arrest of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, he held the government accountable for his well-being. Further criticizing the TDP’s governance, Jagan mentioned the case of former Denduluru MLA Kotharu Chowdary, who was reportedly implicated in a false SC/ST case.
He highlighted that video evidence circulated widely, showing a TDP MLA verbally assaulting Kotharu Chowdary’s driver. However, the police constructed a false case against Chowdary, even invoking IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder), while overlooking the actual perpetrator.
Jagan deemed this a clear sign of bias within the police department and accused the Chandrababu Naidu administration of systematically targeting political adversaries.
Jagan criticized Chandrababu Naidu for failing to deliver on the 143 commitments made to the electorate, including the much-touted ‘Super-6’ initiatives.
Accusing the government of deceiving the populace, he claimed that Naidu’s regime was trying to divert attention from its shortcomings through politically motivated arrests and fabricated charges.
He asserted that YSRCP leaders and members were being unfairly targeted as part of a broader tactic to silence the Opposition.
Jagan cautioned that the citizens of Andhra Pradesh were witnessing these injustices and would hold the government responsible in due time.
Vallabhneni Vamsi was apprehended by police in Hyderabad on Thursday and transported to Vijayawada, where a court placed him in judicial custody for 14 days.
He was detained for allegedly kidnapping and threatening a computer operator at the TDP's Gannavaram office. Police also invoked the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the former MLA and others.
