New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) With the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) permitting Holi festivities at the non-resident students' club (NRSC) on March 13 and 14, amid growing demand, BJP MP and Waqf Bill Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) Jagdambika Pal expressed his support for cultural harmony.

In an interview with IANS, Jagdambika Pal remarked: "Whether it’s AMU or the Parliament, we celebrated Holi there as well yesterday. If anyone wishes to enjoy Holi in their own space, they should be allowed to do so. Likewise, if anyone wants to perform Namaaz, they should have that freedom. This reflects the essence of Indian culture."

He also highlighted the unique overlap of Holi and Ramazan 'Jumma' this year, mentioning that the Uttar Pradesh (UP) administration has made arrangements for ten mosques in Sambhal on Friday, March 14, a rare occasion when the festival of colours aligns with the sacred Friday prayer.

"In Sambhal, Muslim leaders have requested that Jumme ki Namaaz take place after 2 p.m., as the administration encourages people to celebrate Holi until that time. Holi is a festival of joy, colours, and unity. Whether in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, or any other state, there is a collective appeal for maintaining this harmony. After 2 p.m., Jumme ki Namaaz will be observed, and the rest of the day will be filled with the vibrant spirit of Holi," Pal stated.

Pal further underscored the inclusive nature of the festival: "Holi is a celebration devoid of animosity - there are no divides between the young and the old, the affluent and the less fortunate. It’s a moment for everyone to unite, embrace, and share joyful experiences. Holi transcends being merely a festival of colours; it embodies unity, joy, and love."

Holi, one of India’s most cherished festivals, is celebrated throughout the nation. Often referred to as the “festival of love,” it allows people to come together, leaving behind all grudges and negative sentiments.
