Jaipur, Oct 3 (NationPress) In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Jaipur has confiscated ganja valued at Rs 5 crore. This illicit cargo was cleverly concealed in a hidden compartment of a container truck, which was being smuggled from Odisha to Rajasthan.

Authorities apprehended two individuals, Subhash Gurjar and Pramod Gurjar, both from Sikar in Rajasthan, in connection with this operation.

As per ADG (Crime) Dinesh M.N., intelligence reports indicated that a substantial shipment of ganja was en route to Rajasthan for distribution to two infamous drug lords from the Shekhawati region, namely Raju Pachalangi and Gokul.

Responding promptly to this tip-off, the AGTF collaborated with the Jhunjhunu District Special Task Force (DST) to establish a checkpoint in the Udaipurwati area late Thursday night.

Under the guidance of ASP Siddhant Sharma, the team stopped a suspicious container truck. Initially, no illegal goods were visible. However, a meticulous search uncovered a concealed chamber behind the driver's seat, which contained 1,014 kg of ganja. This discovery highlighted the smugglers' intricate efforts to bypass law enforcement.

The two suspects were arrested on the spot, and the truck along with the entire ganja shipment was seized.

The estimated market value of the confiscated cannabis stands at around Rs 5 crore, illustrating the magnitude of the smuggling operation.

The AGTF is currently pursuing further investigations to unveil additional members of the smuggling ring and trace the supply chain.

Officials have reiterated that such operations reflect the force's commitment to combating organized drug trafficking within the state.

“This operation marks a significant achievement for the AGTF and our partner agencies. The accused will face charges under appropriate sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” stated ADG Dinesh MN.

This seizure is anticipated to disrupt the activities of drug syndicates operating in Shekhawati and serve as a stern warning to other smugglers attempting to move contraband into Rajasthan.
