Jaipur, Oct 16 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has sanctioned a financial aid of Rs 10 lakh each for the families mourning the loss of their loved ones in the tragic bus incident on the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer Highway. For families that suffered the loss of three or more relatives, the aid amounts to Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, those who sustained serious injuries will receive Rs 2 lakh, while other injured individuals will benefit from Rs 1 lakh each.
The unfortunate event took place near Thaiyat village in the Jodhpur district on Tuesday, when a bus carrying approximately 57 passengers suddenly went ablaze. This was reportedly triggered by an engine malfunction that caused sparks in the rear of the vehicle.
The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the bus and causing chaos among the passengers. Local residents, police, and fire brigade personnel promptly arrived to conduct rescue operations. Despite their efforts, 21 lives were lost.
Expressing profound sorrow over the fatalities, the Chief Minister stated that the state government stands in solidarity with the bereaved families during this tragic time. "This incident is deeply saddening. We share in the grief of those who have lost family members and pledge full support for the injured," he declared.
In a display of compassion, the Chief Minister approved the financial assistance by amending the rules of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, allowing swift aid to reach the victims' families.
CM Sharma has instructed district officials to guarantee the best medical care for the injured and to extend all necessary support to the families of the deceased. He emphasized that the state government is dedicated to standing by its citizens during times of crisis and sorrow.
The Prime Minister’s Relief Fund has also authorized a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased, alongside Rs 50,000 for the injured.
