Patna, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Jan Suraaj Party held the 'Ambedkar Samvad Workshop' at the Bihar Satyagraha Ashram on Friday, concentrating on methods to enhance awareness regarding education within the Dalit community in Bihar.
The workshop saw participation from various leaders, scholars, and advocates of the Dalit community.
Prashant Kishor, the head of Jan Suraaj, outlined his party's vision for Dalit empowerment, highlighting the importance of both political engagement and socio-economic reforms.
"Thanks to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's efforts, scheduled castes gained political representation. Nevertheless, a substantial portion of the Dalit community continues to lack access to essential services. Simply becoming an MLA or MP is insufficient for instigating change," Kishor stated.
The Jan Suraaj Party has pledged five commitments for Dalit empowerment if elected to govern Bihar.
"Under our proposal, Dalit students achieving over 50 percent in their 10th grade will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,000 for further studies. Currently, merely 3 percent of Dalit students pass the 12th grade; we aim to boost their participation in higher education. Additionally, we plan to renovate Ambedkar hostels throughout the state," Kishor added.
"We will also initiate a campaign ensuring that every landless Dalit family acquires 3 decimal land within three years. Furthermore, they will be granted government land on lease to promote agricultural involvement, and Dalit youth eager for self-employment will receive capital backed by a government guarantee to launch businesses," he explained.
In areas with a notable Dalit demographic, if a qualified Dalit candidate is available but the seat remains unreserved, Jan Suraaj will nominate a Dalit candidate for elections, he affirmed.
Prashant Kishor stressed that these measures aim to effectuate genuine change in the lives of Dalit families rather than merely depending on political representation.
A political analyst noted that the workshop represents a significant advancement in Jan Suraaj's outreach initiatives as the party gears up for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
