Did the National Conference Government Outsource 23,000 Jobs?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, Feb 21 (NationPress) Sunil Sharma, BJP leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, has accused the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government of abandoning unemployed youth by outsourcing approximately 23,000 jobs instead of conducting regular recruitment.
At a press conference held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar following a BJP joining event, Sharma claimed that the NC government has disregarded the aspirations of the jobless youth in the Union Territory.
“The NC government has dashed the hopes of unemployed youth. They must reverse this decision or encounter the wrath of the youth,” Sharma stated.
He reiterated that the Omar Abdullah administration has outsourced nearly 23,000 positions rather than filling them through a fair recruitment process.
“This is a significant betrayal of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir,” he emphasized.
To substantiate his assertions, Sharma cited a written response from the government in the Assembly to MLA Sajad Gani Lone, which revealed that a total of 22,886 positions had been outsourced in the last two years.
He insisted that the BJP will persist in raising this issue and holding the government accountable, especially concerning employment.
Sharma also remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established security and stability in the region, allowing youth to chase opportunities, but accused the current government of failing to provide sufficient employment options.
He further claimed that political dynasties, including the Abdullah and Mufti families, have misled the public in the past and attempted to undermine support for the BJP.
“Currently, youth and political activists are flocking to the BJP in large numbers, indicating a growing acceptance of the party in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
When questioned about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s comments on the India–US trade deal, Sharma suggested she should concentrate on pressing issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Instead of addressing employment and youth issues, Mehbooba Mufti is focusing on Delhi. She should raise matters that impact the residents of Jammu and Kashmir,” he concluded.
