Jammu, March 7 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly and BJP MLA, Sunil Kumar Sharma, voiced his concerns on Friday regarding certain members who frequently mention Pakistan in their speeches, deeming it unacceptable. "I have conveyed my anger and disappointment to the Assembly Speaker about the allowance of such references and discussions advocating dialogue with our adversary. Our valiant soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice due to terrorists backed and trained by Pakistan. Permitting such references contradicts the very ethos and tradition of our nation," stated Sharma in an interview with IANS.

In his correspondence, Sharma emphasized, "As the Leader of Opposition, I am compelled to express my serious concerns regarding the statements made in this esteemed House. There is a growing trend where discussions shift towards engaging with Pakistan, drawing comparisons between the developmental aspects of Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK) and our Union Territory, and, at times, even remarks that may glorify Pakistan."

On Thursday, senior ruling National Conference (NC) leader and MLA, Ali Mohammad Sagar, endorsed the notion of talks with Pakistan during his address in the Assembly, despite labeling Pakistan as a failed state.

This perspective was echoed by NC President and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who remarked, "Engaging in dialogue with Pakistan could foster peace in J&K."

The ongoing Budget Session of the J&K Assembly is showcasing the stark ideological differences between the BJP and the NC.

Another controversy emerged between the two parties regarding the holidays on July 13, commemorating Martyrs Day, and December 5, the birthday of NC founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. These holidays were removed from the official list after J&K came under direct Central governance.

Additionally, the holiday celebrating the birthday of former Maharaja Hari Singh has also become a contentious topic. While he is viewed as a hero by the people of Jammu, the NC criticizes him as an autocratic ruler unworthy of praise.
