Jammu, March 24 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday expressed strong disapproval of Pakistan's ongoing attempts to sneak terrorists into India, emphasizing that security forces are tirelessly working to eradicate terrorism.
He labeled it as "unfortunate" that some lawmakers still advocate for dialogue with Pakistan.
His comments came after a fierce gunfight between security personnel and terrorists in J&K's Kathua on Sunday night. The clash erupted after three terrorists were detected near Hiranagar, adjacent to the Indo-Pak border.
In an interview with IANS, Sharma stated, "While Pakistan is battling the scourge of terrorism within its own territory, it simultaneously strives to send terrorists into India through infiltration."
He added that security forces have been conducting a search operation in Sanyal village of Hiranagar since the previous night and remain on-site to neutralize any potential threats.
"I believe Pakistan has dug a trench for itself," he remarked.
Sharma reiterated that security forces are on high alert and dedicated to uprooting terrorism.
"The more Pakistan attempts to dispatch terrorists here, the stronger our security forces' response will be to eliminate that terrorism once and for all," he added.
Criticizing certain legislators, Sharma lambasted the National Conference-led government for allegedly promoting dialogue with Pakistan despite ongoing terrorist infiltrations.
"It is unfortunate that some lawmakers here, particularly since the National Conference government took office, persistently suggest talks with Pakistan. Sometimes they advocate dialogue, while at other times, they inadvertently support Pakistan in various ways. Such elements encourage Pakistan-backed terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in a rise in such incidents," he asserted.
In the wake of Sunday's confrontation, a large-scale search operation was initiated by specialized units of the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the forested area near the international border at Hiranagar.
Currently, elite forces are combing the Dolka forest area of Hiranagar to locate any remaining threats following the recent engagement with terrorists.
