Jammu, March 17 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, criticized Pakistan on Monday for its ongoing support of terrorism, despite India's relentless attempts to foster amicable relations with neighboring countries.
In an interview with IANS, Sharma highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently promoted peace and harmonious engagements with neighboring nations, referencing his invitation to former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his oath-taking ceremony in 2014 as a notable display of goodwill.
"PM Modi has a clear stance: we seek no conflict with any neighboring country and aim to preserve our relations. This was illustrated in 2014 with Nawaz Sharif's invitation to the ceremony, signaling to the world that India desires peace, not discord," Sharma stated.
Nonetheless, he accused Pakistan of consistently undermining India's benevolence by supporting terrorism.
"Globally recognized for its deceitful acts, Pakistan has not ceased its treachery. From the Pathankot incident to Uri, Pakistan has perpetuated its terror activities. The response from PM Modi, whether through surgical strikes or airstrikes, coupled with a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, has produced substantial outcomes," he added.
Sharma emphasized that under PM Modi's guidance, local terrorist recruitment has significantly decreased, while foreign militants are being effectively neutralized.
"The evidence is apparent today. Local recruitment is nearly non-existent, and foreign terrorists are being eliminated. This is a direct result of PM Modi's robust policies. The Prime Minister reiterated yesterday that India seeks peace and stability but will stand firm against terrorism," he remarked.
These comments followed accusations from Pakistan's military and Balochistan's provincial leadership, alleging that India sponsors terrorism in the region without providing valid proof.
Sharma dismissed these claims as groundless.
The J&K LoP also addressed the ongoing military operation in the Kupwara district, where security forces initiated a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Krumbhoora (Zachaldara) village of Rajwar based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
"Our security forces will persist in their operations. They are dedicated to completely eradicating terrorism. The Kupwara encounter exemplifies their unwavering efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts," Sharma concluded.
